How the engines work
Each engine is a deterministic rule set over parsed artifacts. It validates its input against a declared contract, evaluates its rules and emits findings with evidence (artifact path, line and column, snippet, SHA-256) and a confidence class. Engines never call a language model to decide a finding; AI-assisted explanations are capped at INFERRED confidence.
If an input does not match the contract, the engine reports one of its input-validation codes (for example …_INVALID_INPUT or …_PARSE_ERROR) instead of a verdict.
