CDS view
Core Data Services view
A semantic data model on SAP HANA. Released CDS views such as I_PRODUCT are the upgrade-stable way to read SAP S/4HANA data.
Core Data Services describe data models with associations, annotations and access control on top of database tables. SAP releases a subset of its CDS views for customer use.
In a clean core, custom code reads released CDS views instead of the underlying tables. Where no released view exists, a custom CDS view on top of released views is an option.
Key users can create custom CDS views as well; these become part of the extension landscape and have consumers of their own.

Clean Core Object Guard classifies referenced CDS views by release state; Extension Impact Guard includes custom CDS views in the dependency graph of your extensions.
