Released API
Released API (release contract)
Also known as: released object, C1 release
An SAP object — CDS view, class, interface, function module or BAdI — that SAP has released for customer use, so it stays stable across upgrades.
A released API is part of SAP’s stable contract for customer code. For use in ABAP Cloud code, the relevant release contract is C1. Objects without a release contract can change without notice.
The release state is published per object, edition and release. An object can be released, deprecated (still usable, with a successor named), not released, or not released but kept stable.
Where an object is not released, SAP often names a successor — for example the released CDS view I_PRODUCT instead of reads of table MARA.
In ERP Preflight
The free Clean Core Object Lookup shows the release state of an object per edition and release, and every SAP object page lists states, successors and related objects from the SAP Cloudification Repository.
